The Shearer Ranches are all working cattle ranches, not dude ranches. The cowboy heritage runs strong in the Shearer family. We have been in the cattle business since the middle 1800s when George Shearer started ranching in Texas. Shearer's Cow Creek Ranch is a family owned Working Cattle Ranch in Western South Dakota, that has grown and progressed into more than just a cow outfit.
Cow Creek Ranch not only sells Quality Angus Cattle but we also offer: Guided Hunts, Quarter Horses, Bed & Breakfast Lodging, Horse Camping, Ranch Vacations, Handcrafted Cedar Log Furniture and Rustic Log Railing.
We are proud to be part of six generations of cowboys. The Shearer outfit now consists of four different operations: Calf Creek Ranch, Lavon & Dorothy Shearer, Spear U Angus Ranch and the Cow Creek Ranch.

The Cow Creek Ranch Headquarters are just a few hundred yards from the historical town of Smithville, right where the Deadwood Trail crossed the Cheyenne River.
